This document will show you how to access the NetMath mentor chat using a Macintosh OS X client.
To start, you need to install and configure Colloquy. Go to http://colloquy.info/downloads.html. You will want to download the latest Stable version. In October, 2005, when this guide was created, the Stable version was Colloquy 2.0 (2D16) Stable.

Click on the downloaded here link under whatever Stable version is the most recent.

If you are using Safari, after clicking the link you will download the file, and then you should get a dialog box like this. Click on Continue.

Double click on the colloquy-latest folder in the Downloads. This will show the Colloquy application folder in the Finder.
To start Colloquy, double click on the icon. You will get a window similar to this:

Click on the Details arrow, and then enter the information as shown. The Nickname, Username, and Real Name can be anything you want, but the chat server and chat server port MUST be entered as shown in the following picture.

Click on the Connect button in the New Connection dialog box you just filled out. You should get a window that looks like this:

Make sure that the first line is highlighted, and click the Join Room button.

Enter #netmath in the dialog window that pops up, press the Join button, and you're in!

You type your questions in the bottom of the chat window. You can click on the arrow next to netmath on the side bar to see who else is in the chat room with you.
